what time was this taken? 8-9? 10-12? Also, if you don't mind answering me, is it hard to find the polar star to get the stars oriented around it?

i think it was like 11-12. for finding the polar star you can take a compass with you and study the star constellation a little bit before you leave. you can also try some 2 minute exposures and zoom in in your camera to look for the only non rotating star. let me see your results :)
